The Crusades: Created and controlled by the Latin church, the Crusades were several religious military campaigns with the main goal of taking the holy land from Islamic control. This series of religious wars lasted between 1095 to 1271. The conflict set in motion the status of European Christians as major contenders for the control of land in the Middle East.
