Become a Polyglot

In case you were wondering, the term comes from Greek with poly, meaning „many”, and glotta, meaning „tongue”.

Now go impress somebody with your new etymological knowledge.

You might even be a bit scared by the term, as you have probably heard it associated with people who speak three, four, five and even more languages.

Relax, because you can consider yourself a polyglot even if you speak „only” one foreign language.

You do not have to be perfect in everything there is to the language. It is enough to use it as a door to one more, incredible, vast world of literature, movies, music and culture which you have probably never imagined.

One more language is never just one more tool of expression. Do not let numbers turn you away from the wonderful opportunity of expanding your mind.

Few things are as satisfying as feeling the buzz of successful language use. It is the feeling you get when you compose a grammatically correct sentence and see that nod of understanding in front of you;

it is the pleasure of making out words, phrases and whole sensible units of speech and putting them together into a logical set in your mind;

it is the little hurrah! that you tell yourself when you translate a sentence in a language that not too long ago you considered impossible to master.

It is precisely for reasons such as these that you should consider acquiring at least one foreign language in your mental arsenal.

Nowadays, few things can stop you from doing that.

Language learning in an internet environment has become incredibly easy.

Tutors, textbooks, apps and tons of resources are available to basically anyone. Even if you are busy with your full-time job, family, kids and responsibilities, our century has made it as easy as it can get.

I speak four languages fluently, and the journey was never easy, but I can guarantee you that it was worth.
