Cebu City is the oldest City in the Philippines, having founded in 1565 by Spanish Explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. Is is also known as the " Queen City of the South" and considered the second largest city in the Philippines in terms of economic activity and population. Cebu City is home to a number of historical landmarks the spot where Magellan planted a cross to signify the conversion of the Philippines to Christianity. The City is known for its lively festivals including the Sinulog Festival, which is celebrated every third Sunday of January in Honor of the Sr. Santo Nino.
