Gracias

Meaning: Thank you.

Literally, this phrase means thanks. It is the most commonly used phrase to say thank you in Spanish.

Dar Las Gracias 

Meaning: to give thanks

This verb is the most commonly used verb to express thankfulness.

Used both in formal and informal situations when you want to express your gratitude, its literal meaning is 'to give thanks.'

Example: Queremos darte las gracias por tu ayuda. (We want to thank you for your help.

Muchas Gracias 

Meaning: thank you very much

When you’re very thankful, you can add to the word 'gracias' 'muchas,' which means 'very much, muchas.'

Muchísimas Gracias 

Meaning: Thank you very much, thanks a lot

In Spanish, when you add the augmentative -ísimo/-ísima to the words, it makes everything bigger and more important.

In this case,  'muchísimas gracias'  is thank you but much more.

Mil Gracias 

Meaning: a thousand thanks

Some also use ‘un millón de gracias’ (thanks a million) if they want to thank someone. 'Mil gracias' is an informal way of saying thank you very much, so you can often hear it among family members and friends.

Gracias/Muchas Gracias por Todo 

Meaning: thank you/thank you very much for everything

Te/Se lo Agradezco 

Meaning: I thank you

When you use the verb 'agradecer' which means 'to thank,' this verb is mainly used in the first person singular.

De Nada 

Meaning: You’re welcome

The phrase ‘de nada’ is the most common way of saying you’re welcome in Spanish. It literally means ‘of nothing.

Gracias a Ti/a Usted 

Meaning: Thank you

Even though there is a word ‘gracias’ in this phrase, it is a way to answer someone who thanked you.

So, when someone says ‘gracias’ you can answer with this phrase.

As you may see, it can be used informally and in that case, you use ‘a ti.’ For formal situations, use ‘a Usted.’

No Hay de Qué 

Meaning: you’re welcome

This phrase literally can be translated as 'there is not from what.' It is a very common way of answering someone who’s thanking us.

No Hay Problema 

Meaning: no problem

This phrase is usually used in informal speech instead of ‘you’re welcome,’ ‘no problem’ or ‘don’t mention it.’

Un Placer

Meaning: a pleasure

When you want to tell someone that it’s your pleasure and to express that it was your pleasure to help him, you can use ‘un placer.’

El Placer es Mío 

Meaning: the pleasure is mine.

If you want to show the person who thanked you for the help that you were willing to be there for him, you can use a more emotional phrase and say ‘el placer es mio.’

Con Gusto/Mucho Gusto 

Meaning: with pleasure/a lot of pleasure.

This phrase is a synonym of ‘un placer’ so you can use either of these two.

This one people usually use when they want to tell you that they are happy to help.

No Te Preocupes/Se Preocupe 

Meaning: don’t worry, don’t mention it

This phrase is one more common way of saying 'you're welcome.' It literally means don’t worry, but it’s commonly used as a way of saying you’re welcome. 

Depending on which word you use ‘te’ or ‘se’, unlike in English, you can use this phrase both in formal and informal conversations.
