You have made your decision!

You are going to learn a new language, but you do not know which exactly.

Well, let me give you a few tips on how to find out which language exactly is suitable for you.

1. Decide why you want to learn a language.

Is there a specific goal you aim at? Maybe you want to increase your chances of getting a job. In this case, you may want to take up English, French, German, or any of the major languages. Also, depending on your region, different languages may be valuable. If you live in a touristic area, just find out what tourists visit the place.

In case you have foreign friends, the answer is obvious.

2. Measure the language difficulty.

Some people find languages which differ completely from their native one as extremely difficult, other think it is vice versa. It really depends on the student. As a rule, languages which differ from your mother tongue are more difficult. So take into account how much you want to struggle before you actually start using it. If you need brain training, I suggest going for an alien language; if you are Russian, go for Arabic or Korean.

3. Examine the culture.

Every language comes with a specific culture – a set of literature, movies, music, and traditions. Take a peek into every culture of the languages that you can choose and find one that is fun for you.

4. Provide resources.

If you have chosen a rare language, make sure you can find appropriate book, materials or a tutor in order to learn effectively. You do not want to start and then just stop because of the lack of materials.

Regardless of which language you choose, you are bound to take one more world into your life. One more aspect into your mind!
