Swahili Concept of Time
There is a difference of six hours between the Swahili time and English time. In English, the morning start from 12:00 A.M., while in Swahili it starts after 6:00 A.M., hence a difference of six (6) hours. In other words, the day is considered to be from sunrises to sunset and the night starts from sunset to sunrises. Many Swahili speakers would use Asubuhi, Mchana, Jioni, and Usiku to be more specific on the time they are referring to.
