Is it easiest to learn Spanish or Portuguese?

Tthroughout my 15 teaching years I have worked with students from many different cultural backgrounds and, despite of being Portuguese, I have to accept what most say: Spanish is simpler.

as a Filipino it is easier to learn Spanish than Portuguese.
