Hello everyone, My name is Giuseppina (but you can call me Josephina), I'm 28, and I'm an Italian native speaker. I was born and raised in Italy, and I love drawing, reading, discovering new places, and experiencing different cultures. I studied at the Università per stranieri di Siena (Italy), and I have a Bachelor's degree in Linguistic Mediation and a Master's degree in Didactics of Italian as a foreign language. I've been studying English and Spanish for many years, so I know what it means to learn a new language. I taught Italian as a trainee in Siena, and my teaching philosophy is simple. I love using everyday situations to teach common and useful expressions, including vocabulary and grammar. I'm very patient and empathetic, and I'm always happy to help, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. My schedule is pretty flexible, so let me know what time is best for you. Hope to see you in my lessons!

Hi everyone! I'm Marco, I'm Italian, and I was born and bred in Brescia, a city in Northern Italy. I live in Siena, Tuscany, where I'm getting my second level degree in Humanities, specializing in Didactics of Italian Language and Litterature. I got my first level degree in 2018 in Romance Philology. I speak Italian (my mother tongue), English and Romanian; hence, I can teach Italian to English and Romanian speakers without any problem. I don't have a pre-created method, because I believe that when it comes to learning a foreign language, each student needs a customized learning style. Together with you, I would love to find the best way in which you can learn a new language. However, I enforce conversations because I believe that the more we talk, the quicker you'll learn the language. As I already said, I'm specializing in Didactics of Italian Language and Literature, concentrating my universitarian career on courses as Language Teaching, General Linguistics, Sociolinguistics and Didactics. I have teaching experience as a volunteer, and I must say that my students seemed happy about my lessons. I love teaching Italian to foreign people; it's my passion. So if you want me as your tutor, I promise I will do anything in my power to help you improve in Italian! The current schedule you can see in my profile is final.
Hello! My name is Chiara, I am Italian, and I live in a small town in the North of Italy. From a very young age, I have always been interested in learning new languages and specializing in my beautiful language - Italian. Growing up, what started as a simple interest, became one of my biggest passion, together with music and writing. Right after High School, I went to Dublin for two months, where I attended different classes to improve my English skills. Finally, my dream came true with my Literature degree at the Università Statale of Milan. I was lucky enough to find different job opportunities which have helped me to build my experience in teaching students of all ages, both with classes and individual lessons. What about our lessons? My main goal is to create a unique path for every one of you based on your level of knowledge and interest. I want to know you, shape the classes based on your needs and inspire you on your language learning journey. I will also try my best to keep every lesson as interactive and fresh as possible, using slides show and PowerPoint presentations. I am always happy to discuss any topic you want and I make sure I consider the grammar and communicative aspects too. I have a flexible approach, depending on your level and preferences I can use a mix of images, audio-visual material, games, questionnaires, newspaper articles, songs, fairy tales, dictation exercises and a references to on line books. If there is a particular topic you would like to discuss or you have any questions book a lesson to start your Italian journey.
My name is Giulia, I have a degree from a School of Art, and I am from Reggio Emilia. I recently received the TEFL certificate to teach English. What is the most important qualification that you should look out for in choosing a tutor?
Above all else, it's important for you and your tutor to be able to communicate in a common language. It may not be English because the tutor might be fluent in your native tongue, too. But if the tutor you chose is a native speaker of the language you want to learn and isn't fluent with your native language and you know how to speak in English, then make sure he can speak English, too.
What should you expect in learning a language?
Learning a new language takes time, lets you put in a bit more effort and resources to make it work. If you have a specific timeframe that you're following, then you'll need more of the three aspects to learn it. You should also expect that if it's just a bit too difficult for you, then you have to be open to your tutor about your difficulties so that what you've invested on will not go to waste. In that way, your tutor will be able to make adjustments and will help you achieve your goal.
How can you be more effective in learning a language?
Always be attentive in your lessons and when you're done with them, make sure that you are able to practice and apply what you learned. Your tutor will give you tips on how to practice on your own and might give you homework. If the tutor doesn't, then you can ask for it so you can keep practicing off schedule. You always have to help yourself while you're on your own so that when you're already out there and speaking with the locals, it's not that hard to pick up on what you learned anymore.
What factors should you consider in learning a language online?
Learning a language online needs you to invest in a good internet connection, if you don't have any yet, because it's the only way to work with a tutor. You also have to invest your time and if time is difficult to spare, you might as well choose a platform that allows you to choose your own schedule. You also need space, like a quiet room, where you can speak with the tutor and be able to focus on your lessons.
How can you help your language tutor be effective in teaching you?
Always be attentive with what your tutor is teaching you. It's the only way for you to understand and learn easily. Make sure that you follow the schedule that you agreed on or what you choose for yourself if that's how it works. You also have to participate in the activities that your tutor has planned for you because these have been tailored fit with the requirements that you have set. If you are asked to practice during the days when you don't have lessons, you have to religiously do so.
What kind of language tutor should you choose?
It really depends on your learning style. If you think you can learn better if the person is more of someone who teaches professionally then you can find someone who teaches that way. If you're the type who learns while just talking to the teacher, then you can opt for someone who's friendly, enthusiastic and fun but still focusing on the lesson at hand. Always read a tutor's personal introduction so you have a bit of an idea who they are and how they teach.
What's the advantage of hiring a tutor?
It's an advantage to hire a tutor because lessons will be customized for you and you'll be guided in learning them to make it more effective for you. You can easily interact with them and ask them to elaborate if something's not really that clear to you. They will also be able to give you feedback on your progress with your lessons and how far along you are in achieving your goals in learning the language.
How can learning a language benefit me other than being able to communicate with it?
Studies have proved that learning languages can help you with other mental processes as it sharpens your thinking skills. There's significant improvement in your memory, enhances your concentration, it helps you be able to multitask with ease and improves your listening comprehension skills. It also helps you solve problems easily because it enables you to critically be able to think to come up with effective solutions.
What should be your mindset so you can learn a new language easily?
If you already have a particular language in mind because you have goals to achieve, prepare yourself to learn it and be mentally ready to take risks. There will be times that you will struggle but it should always challenge you to work harder and do better.
