Giusy

Hi! I’m Giusy and I’m 26 years. I’m an Italian teacher for foreigners students. My first teaching experience was in Mexico City, in the Italian institute. When I was there, I realized that my dream was to become an Italian teacher for foreigners because I want to promote my language and my culture. I’m a motivated teacher and I want to motivate my students with didactic contents I create for them, for their needs and their competencies. I studied foreigners languages, English and Spanish, and I know the difficulties of learning another language: the secret is getting involved and never get bored!

I have been teaching Italian and spanish for over 10 years in Barcelona and around several Language Academies. I love my profession, I want to develop my knowledge and ambition to keep growing. I have a great vocation for teaching, particularly with children. The general objective is to make the student express himself in a simple, coherent and clear way in real contexts. The specific objectives are: to elaborate simple questions with their answers; participate in conversations on topics typical of daily life; talk about anecdotes and personal experiences; understand messages heard on radio and television; read and understand simple texts in the present; write small compositions about personal experiences and about some text of interest. Each course is adjusted to the needs of each student, at their level and requirements. I offer individual courses, in groups, for companies, preparation of official exams. I organize personalized classes, tailored to the demands of students, dynamic classes with songs, recipes of Italian culture and business class. My classes are entertaining and focused on the objectives of the students.I use an easy and fun method, alternating conversation, grammar, audios, videos. I provide didactic material: books, exercises and audios.Do you want to learn Italian or spanish in an easy and fun way?The face to face online allows you to enjoy the course as in a classroom of a lifetime. Chiara

Italian
My name is Chiara, I live in Italy and I'm an English teacher in Verona. I've been tutoring teenagers and kids for more than 8 years, and in 2019 I completed my CELTA course. Since then, I've been teaching group classes with adults and kids (aged 5 to 10) and also 1-to-1 classes with adults and teenagers. I'm a curious and positive person; I'm encouraging with students and I like challenges and trying new things. I'm also quite accurate and meticulous when planning and delivering lessons and sometimes this leads me to be a little bit too hard on myself. I love meeting new people from around the world and I really enjoy sharing with them my hobbies (literature and martial arts, for example) and my knowledge and getting different points of view from them.

Ti aspetto CIAO E GRAZIE Chiara Hi everyone My name is Chiara, I’m graduated in Economics and I’m Italian. Even if I was an Italian teacher at Berlitz in Calgary, as I spent 5y in Canada from 2010 till 2015, I don’t consider myself a conventional tutor. I like teaching my language creating a funny and dynamic environment so I promise my lessons won’t be boring, ever. I will let you learn while you’re having fun. As I custom my lessons based on your needs, I would need to know your objective and reasons why you want to learn Italian and based on that I will design the lessons that best fit your purpose.

I know, you want to speak Italian. But before starting, ask yourself.. why? Is it a hobby? Is it for work? Or maybe you just like Italy and are curious about this small and yet vulcanic country. I had been studying French for 5 or 6 years before living in Nantes. Yet, I wasn't able to have a 10 minutes conversation in French with nobody during the first days of my stay. The same happened in Spain. In my early 20's, I spent 6 months in Malaga. I used to share an apartment with 3 Spanish flatmates and work in a fish restaurant facing the sunny and green coast of Torremolinos. Well, the first weeks were tough. As I knew just a few words as "Hola, que tal?", I struggled to be in whatever conversation and felt I cannot ever express myself as I wanted. Then, in both cases, it happened. At first, I started understanding and attach a few words to real images. So I used them for short conversations. And from there, a new world opened to me. One year later, in Rome, I was walking to a concert and met a group of Spanish guys. Well, to convince them that I was not from Cadiz (I made a lot of friends from that wonderful city), I had to talk to them in Pugliese, my own dialect :) Why am I telling you this little story from my past? Let me tell you. Whatever is your reason, if you start from scratch, it is tough to learn a new language just for passion. However, if you start this path, it could be extremely exciting and funny. Being able to talk with other people in a different language is wonderful, magic. But how can you do it without much effort? How to make the new language last? How to make super powerful your learning? You need to stick it to something else useful for you. This is a core concept coming also from teachers I appreciated most during my academic years - I have a Master's Degree in Foreign Languages - and what I always try to transmit to my students. For me then, it was the immediate need to talk with other people in foreign countries. It's probably the same for you. You want to visit a new country and/or just know its language culture. But you will have another opportunity. You will have the opportunity to acquire new skills besides Italian, to get insightful information, exchange ideas and opinions about the most recent trends in the world. And this is why our lessons will go far beyond the simple learning of Italian. We will speak only in Italian, but talking about topics related to time management, productivity, non-fiction authors. If you are a student, a freelancer, or simply passionate about digital and innovation, we will talk about startups, validation of ideas, digital marketing, funnels, growth hacking, UX. If you are passionate about the Italian country, we will talk about the best and less known places to visit, about some secret food receipts, about the most important writers and directors that crafted the shape of Italy all over the world. In a few words, you will REALLY learn Italian without even noticing it! And I hope you (and both of us) come out of our lessons with new inspirations, useful information, ideas. See you on the other side!

What is the most important qualification that you should look out for in choosing a tutor?
Above all else, it's important for you and your tutor to be able to communicate in a common language. It may not be English because the tutor might be fluent in your native tongue, too. But if the tutor you chose is a native speaker of the language you want to learn and isn't fluent with your native language and you know how to speak in English, then make sure he can speak English, too.
What should you expect in learning a language?
Learning a new language takes time, lets you put in a bit more effort and resources to make it work. If you have a specific timeframe that you're following, then you'll need more of the three aspects to learn it. You should also expect that if it's just a bit too difficult for you, then you have to be open to your tutor about your difficulties so that what you've invested on will not go to waste. In that way, your tutor will be able to make adjustments and will help you achieve your goal.
How can you be more effective in learning a language?
Always be attentive in your lessons and when you're done with them, make sure that you are able to practice and apply what you learned. Your tutor will give you tips on how to practice on your own and might give you homework. If the tutor doesn't, then you can ask for it so you can keep practicing off schedule. You always have to help yourself while you're on your own so that when you're already out there and speaking with the locals, it's not that hard to pick up on what you learned anymore.
What factors should you consider in learning a language online?
Learning a language online needs you to invest in a good internet connection, if you don't have any yet, because it's the only way to work with a tutor. You also have to invest your time and if time is difficult to spare, you might as well choose a platform that allows you to choose your own schedule. You also need space, like a quiet room, where you can speak with the tutor and be able to focus on your lessons.
How can you help your language tutor be effective in teaching you?
Always be attentive with what your tutor is teaching you. It's the only way for you to understand and learn easily. Make sure that you follow the schedule that you agreed on or what you choose for yourself if that's how it works. You also have to participate in the activities that your tutor has planned for you because these have been tailored fit with the requirements that you have set. If you are asked to practice during the days when you don't have lessons, you have to religiously do so.
What kind of language tutor should you choose?
It really depends on your learning style. If you think you can learn better if the person is more of someone who teaches professionally then you can find someone who teaches that way. If you're the type who learns while just talking to the teacher, then you can opt for someone who's friendly, enthusiastic and fun but still focusing on the lesson at hand. Always read a tutor's personal introduction so you have a bit of an idea who they are and how they teach.
What's the advantage of hiring a tutor?
It's an advantage to hire a tutor because lessons will be customized for you and you'll be guided in learning them to make it more effective for you. You can easily interact with them and ask them to elaborate if something's not really that clear to you. They will also be able to give you feedback on your progress with your lessons and how far along you are in achieving your goals in learning the language.
How can learning a language benefit me other than being able to communicate with it?
Studies have proved that learning languages can help you with other mental processes as it sharpens your thinking skills. There's significant improvement in your memory, enhances your concentration, it helps you be able to multitask with ease and improves your listening comprehension skills. It also helps you solve problems easily because it enables you to critically be able to think to come up with effective solutions.
What should be your mindset so you can learn a new language easily?
If you already have a particular language in mind because you have goals to achieve, prepare yourself to learn it and be mentally ready to take risks. There will be times that you will struggle but it should always challenge you to work harder and do better. You have to be optimistic and determined that no matter how many obstacles you have, you're still willing to make it happen and be fluent in the language you want to learn.
How important is motivation in learning a language?
Before you decide to learn a new language, you have to be able to answer the question, "Why do you really want to learn?" It could be because you'll get a promotion at work, or for a new relationship, or because you want to get better grades in school and etc. There are many reasons why you want to push yourself to learn. Your reasons why you have to learn affects the level of motivation that you exhibit in learning and it also shows in the progress that you achieve.
