About meOne thing is certain, I love learning, and I kept learning all my life. And of course, I love to teach. I earned many university degrees: the first one was a baccalaureate in Social Communications at the University of Ottawa (Canada). With this education, my first important job was a full-time Journalist with “Le Droit”, a French newspaper in Ottawa. A few years later, I learned law (JD) at Laval University in Quebec City (Canada). I practiced law successfully in the same city for many years. Then I went for a master's degree in Ethics with the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres. For your information, I did all the classes but never presented my thesis as I moved to the USA. I am a certified English teacher (TEFL from ITTT), also certified to teach English online (International Open Academy), and at present, I am enrolled in a European MBA program in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce. In 1981, I taught English to adults in a traditional classroom for one year, I enjoyed immensely the experience. Now, in a different approach, I teach French or English online to adults. The internet is a marvelous invention. You can be everywhere from anywhere! I am very comfortable tutoring online, distance learning education is a perfect fit for me! There is a huge gap between traditional learning of a new language and the way polyglots are educating themselves. When I teach, within a traditional institution, with a defined syllabus, I respect the approach and the methods of that institution. However, when I am in charge of the syllabus I become a mentor instead of a teacher. It is far more efficient. Learning a language is not a sprint but a beautiful marathon. This being said the marathon is shorter when you love learning the new language. Consequently, it needs to be fun and a student needs to find a way to make it fun for him or herself. Polyglots have all different (personal) methods of learning. This is an important key. I perceive my job as mentoring students in the direction where they happily acquire a base of 500 English popular words, where they are comfortable making mistakes ( the only way to learn) when they can try forming sentences with no fear of being judged, and enjoy learning more and more on their own. That is the beginning of being fluent. Education and Training: University of Ottawa 1975. B.A. In Social Communications (Minor in translation). Laval University of, 1983. B.A. Law (J.D.).
