About meI am a Doctor of Philosophy in Hispanic Languages and Literatures (Comparative Literature), awarded by University College Dublin. My primary degree is a BA Degree in English Philology (Language, Linguistics and Comparative Literatures), from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, where I studied Spanish Language and Spanish and Latin American Literature for the first three years of my primary degree. I have a Higher Diploma in Education, from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, an MA in Hispanic Studies, from University College Dublin, and a Masters in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, from the University of Nebrija, Spain. I have completed courses in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language and in the Teaching of Spanish On-line AVE with Instituto Cervantes. I have eighteen-year extensive experience in Spanish Language teaching at numerous institutions at Higher Education, Adult Education and Secondary levels. For the past seventeen years I have been teaching Spanish from Beginner to Advanced level at the Instituto Cervantes Dublin, the Cultural Department of the Spanish Embassy where I am JC, TY and LC coordinator since 2003. I was Lecturer and Tutor inspanish in UCD and DCU. I was Examiner for the Junior Certificate Spanish, Ordinary Level, in 2011 and 2012, and Examiner for the Leaving Certificate Spanish, Higher Level in 2010 and Junior Cert Oral Exam 2017, for the State Examinations Commission, Department of Education and Skills. I also have been examiner for mock exams in Ashfield College, Loreto Abbey, Blackrock College, St. Andrew´s College, St. Colmcille's Community School and Instituto Cervantes. I have created, developed, and taught numerous Spanish for Special Purposes courses at various Higher Education institutions including Spanish for Business, Spanish for Business and Tourism, Conversation courses, Advanced Writing (Spanish), Spanish Language through Hispanic Contemporary Literature and Translation and Interpretation of English to Spanish, Exploring Hispanic Cultures (Spanish and Latin American History, Culture, Literature, Theatre and Cinema), Intercultural Language Skills, Reading Hispanic Texts and Spanish for JC, TY and LC. I am Tutor and Practices Supervisor for the Master in the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language, from the Universidad de Barcelona and Instituto Cevantes Madrid, and Post-graduate lecturer, tutor and supervisor for the Initial and Intermediate Courses in the Teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language for Post-graduates, both at Instituto Cervantes Dublin since 2009. I have organized, co-ordinated, chaired and given numerous Conferences, Workshops and Presentations, in English and Spanish, in Applied Linguistics and ICT applied to the Teaching of Spanish Language as a Foreign Language, Hispanic Cultures and Literatures, and in Comparative Hispanic, Anglo-Irish and North-American Literatures in Ireland, the UK and Spain. I have experience, at University level, in co-ordinating a number of Spanish language, and Hispanic culture, sociolinguistics and literature modules and I am a distance, semi-distance and on-site tutor for AVE. In my teaching career I am continuously engaged in ongoing research in the Applied Linguistics and Sociolinguistics Field, in ICT applied to the Teaching of Foreign Languages, Cultures, Sociolinguistics and Literatures, and in Comparative Spanish, Hispano-American, North-American, English and Irish Literatures. I successfully published a number of WebQuests, Task Based Class Programs and Didactic Units in MarcoELE, Revista Didáctica de ELE (MarcoELE, Didactic Magazine of ELE), and have periodically revised and updated these publications. My Conference paper: “Ecos de Eureka en la literatura española de principios del SXX”, was published by Aigne, University College of Cork. I am finishing working on publishing my PhD thesis, “Presencia e influencia de Edgar Allan Poe en Miguel de Unamuno, Antonio Machado y Juan Ramón Jimenez”, as a book with Peter Lang Ltd., and on the adaptation of my MA thesis “La Norteamérica desnuda de Juan Ramón Jiménez y Zenobia Camprubí” to be included in a Peter Lang Series. In 2014 I was awarded a Post Graduate President Award from the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland (AHGBI), and in 2013 I was awarded a Post Graduate Travel Award, by the AHGBI, and Funding for Conference Participation by the Seed Funding Scheme, from University College Dublin. I have a vast and diverse range of Spanish Language teaching experience, translation and interpretation; experience in ICT applied to the Teaching of Foreign Languages; wide knowledge and expertise in the teaching, curriculum design, assessment and competence standards to the design, delivery, evaluation and co-ordination of courses at under-graduate and post-graduate level in Higher Education. I have proven research and research funding skills, and am continuously engaged in scholarly activity with further studies, research and publications, and show the same enthusiastic approach to my work whether working independently or as part of a team.
