About me

Hi there! My name is Mark from Vancouver, Canada. Thank you very much for showing interest in my profile! I have a PASSION for helping people as yourself further advance themselves in language fluency. But not only with English itself, but knowing how and what words to use appropriately and correctly in different situations. I specialize in Corporate/Business English, Hospitality & Customer Service English, Conversational English. In addition to the fundamental elements of English learning we'll cover, here's just a small example of the numerous other important aspects to which you'll be introduced: - Learning the importance of using and understanding slang, colloquialisms, and idioms (both casually and in business) so you can sound like a native speaker. - The very underestimated yet important concept of knowing 'small-talk'! - Understanding the differences regarding spelling, pronunciation, and meanings, between British and American English - Learning the proper English when dealing with cultural differences, protocols, and etiquette when traveling to foreign countries - Know what words to use and 'not' use when meeting people for the first time, both personally and/or professionally. My lessons are very relaxed, where I'll let 'you' set the pace, so you're feeling more comfortable and at ease. We'll have a large variety of topics, exercises, and activities from which to choose. And, we'll do real-life training that you can't learn from a book. This will enable you to have a first-hand feel and experience to use your newly taught skills. I would love to help you in every way possible to set you on the right path to achieve your goals. I'm an extremely patient, understanding, compassionate, empathetic, and easygoing trainer. I like to laugh, have fun, and to not have lessons be too serious, but still productive and effective. I've had to learn foreign languages myself, so I can truly understand your desires, challenges, and possible frustrations. I've been in your position also. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So a little bit more about me if you'd like to know.... :) I was born in Vancouver, Canada, was raised in New Zealand under the British academic system. Moved to sunny California to acquire my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology under the American academic system, where I also minored in psychology. I've been a resident of eight countries since the age of two, and I'm now living in SE Asia where I've been for 17 'hot' years. My passions are listening to and playing music, wildlife, travel, reading, any outdoor sports and activities (including water), photography, and international cuisines. It would be my pleasure to help you in any way possible! :) Hope to see you soon, so we can take the first step to further success! Warm wishes, Mark
