What are common English homonyms and homophones?
Perhaps the most commonly used homophones (sound the same, different meaning) are "there" "their" and "they're". English also has a very large number of homonyms (same spelling, different meaning), such as "fine" which may mean "OK", or in the context of "fine art" or similar it means "high quality". It can also mean "very small" or "thin", such as "you have fine hair". Additionally, "fine" can also be a penalty that you might have to pay if you do something wrong, for example if you park illegally or drive over the speed limit.
