'What kind of' or 'Which kind of'?

We know that the use of "what" is when there are many possible answers. Thus, "which" is used when there's few possible choices being presented. So use 'Which kind of' if choices expected while "what kind of" is a more open-ended form that does not necessarily call for a choice or even a reply. However, people often use "what kind of" in most questions.
