I am here to address your needs and create lessons, especially for you. With your goal set in mind, let’s work together so you can reach the fluency you need to communicate confidently. I am an engineer and a certified English teacher (CertTESOL), and I also have experience teaching Spanish (my native language) online. I love to see people grow and achieve their goals. I find it very rewarding to be a part of that process. For me, knowing a foreign language is an empowering tool, and I want to help you master that tool so you can use it to accomplish your dreams and improve your quality of life. I focus mainly on developing your conversational skills. That includes helping you incorporate vocabulary and working on your pronunciation but also helping you gain the confidence you need to speak effectively. I am aware that every person is different, so I will go at your pace, giving you the time you need, and trying to create a relaxing and engaging environment for you to practice and get exposed to the language. I like to do interactive activities and use visual materials, and after each lesson, I will send them to you so you can look over them at any time. Also, if you are interested and have the time for it, I will send you extra activities for you to keep practising offline. In our trial lesson, I would like to talk about your interests, your goals, and your motivation to learn the language. We will start practising, and it will be a good opportunity to assess your weaknesses and strengths, give you feedback, and discuss a plan that suits your learning style. If you want to start practising Spanish, I'll be here to help you!
Hi, Willkommen! I believe that all learning is state-dependent and that we can be far more successful with a positive mental attitude in the process. If you are anything like me, we probably agree that it is not always easy to stay motivated and committed to learning a foreign language. Most especially, if one associates the practice of it with boring classes and feelings like being uncomfortable, judged or under pressure whenever trying to use already acquired skills. As you are reading this section, I assume you have very well put some thought into the benefits of online private tutoring, so congratulations on this choice! As your teacher, I will help to keep your mood up when it comes to German. My classes are designed to provide an encouraging and safe environment for you to advance from your current level (any is fine, even total beginner) while prioritizing the joy in the experience itself. I have had a variety of students, each defining their desired progress with the German language differently. I adapt my teaching style according to your learning goals and your learning style. We can explore these together in case you are not yet quite clear in this regard. I lived in Germany for most of my life and then decided to move to Barcelona (Spain). Living abroad has challenged me to learn new language skills continuously. I’ve been through the very humbling experience of not being able to express myself fully the way I would like to. The beauty, however, is that by putting in the effort, I empowered myself to live out one of my dreams, and also open up unlimited new possibilities in the context of foreign languages. I also teach German and English locally in Barcelona. My educational background is in Sustainability (MSc) and Business Administration (BA). I have always had an affinity for languages. Although I did not pursue a degree in linguistics, I love to perform jobs requiring these skills, like writing, transcribing, translating and, last but not least, language tutoring. My intentions for our German classes is that you get exactly what you want out of them! And I have no doubt you will if you are willing to challenge yourself regularly with my friendly assistance. Remember, you are here to embark on a journey to enjoy and receive valuable lessons and outcomes. I am here to guide you! Here’s to your success, Sabine.

Hello. My name is Yacine Fall. I am an English teacher and tutor since 2010, and I have also worked as a French writer. I have been a French and English language translator for more than six years in local agencies, and presently, I work online as a freelancer. As a Senegalese, Wolof is my native language, and French is our official language. Aside from that, I studied Wolof basics during my first year at the university. These courses gave me a better understanding of Wolof's specificity and variances. I worked as a Wolof transcriber and translator on some projects on Fiverr, Upwork, etc. I am great at speaking and writing both English and French. I have a master degree in English language and literature with a specialization in writing.
I'm Elena, a native and certified Spanish teacher from Barcelona. I am passionate about helping others learn my language. My native languages are Spanish and Catalan, and I also learned a lot of English after spending three years in the United Kingdom. I studied a Master's Degree in teaching at the University of Barcelona and then a specialised course in teaching Spanish for non-Spanish speakers accredited by the Instituto Cervantes. I have been teaching Spanish to children, teenagers and adults as a private tutor; which is my current job in the Netherlands. My lessons are flexible, and I adapt them to the student's needs and interests. I have experience giving conversational Spanish lessons, general Spanish lessons, lessons for beginners, among others. I like to start my lessons by asking the students to tell me what they have done in the last few days, or during the weekend. We will also review the vocabulary learnt in the previous lesson. I develop activities for the students to practice new grammar/vocabulary, and I always try to create exercises that are useful for them so they can practice different skills. I would share videos for their listening understanding and afterwards, talk about the subject, or we would start a conversation after reading a text. For general Spanish, I would introduce a topic in each lesson, so my students can learn new vocabulary and grammar with different activities. Such activities could be reading, listening, role-playing and other games or activities that are suitable for students' practice. No matter your level, we will work together to help you reach your goal. Maybe you just want to practice a conversation, reach a certain level, or pass an exam; whatever you want, we will focus the class on that. If you need help, do not hesitate to contact me!

What is the most important qualification that you should look out for in choosing a tutor?
Above all else, it's important for you and your tutor to be able to communicate in a common language. It may not be English because the tutor might be fluent in your native tongue, too. But if the tutor you chose is a native speaker of the language you want to learn and isn't fluent with your native language and you know how to speak in English, then make sure he can speak English, too.
What should you expect in learning a language?
Learning a new language takes time, lets you put in a bit more effort and resources to make it work. If you have a specific timeframe that you're following, then you'll need more of the three aspects to learn it. You should also expect that if it's just a bit too difficult for you, then you have to be open to your tutor about your difficulties so that what you've invested on will not go to waste. In that way, your tutor will be able to make adjustments and will help you achieve your goal.
How can you be more effective in learning a language?
Always be attentive in your lessons and when you're done with them, make sure that you are able to practice and apply what you learned. Your tutor will give you tips on how to practice on your own and might give you homework. If the tutor doesn't, then you can ask for it so you can keep practicing off schedule. You always have to help yourself while you're on your own so that when you're already out there and speaking with the locals, it's not that hard to pick up on what you learned anymore.
What factors should you consider in learning a language online?
Learning a language online needs you to invest in a good internet connection, if you don't have any yet, because it's the only way to work with a tutor. You also have to invest your time and if time is difficult to spare, you might as well choose a platform that allows you to choose your own schedule. You also need space, like a quiet room, where you can speak with the tutor and be able to focus on your lessons.
How can you help your language tutor be effective in teaching you?
Always be attentive with what your tutor is teaching you. It's the only way for you to understand and learn easily. Make sure that you follow the schedule that you agreed on or what you choose for yourself if that's how it works. You also have to participate in the activities that your tutor has planned for you because these have been tailored fit with the requirements that you have set. If you are asked to practice during the days when you don't have lessons, you have to religiously do so.
What kind of language tutor should you choose?
It really depends on your learning style. If you think you can learn better if the person is more of someone who teaches professionally then you can find someone who teaches that way. If you're the type who learns while just talking to the teacher, then you can opt for someone who's friendly, enthusiastic and fun but still focusing on the lesson at hand. Always read a tutor's personal introduction so you have a bit of an idea who they are and how they teach.
What's the advantage of hiring a tutor?
It's an advantage to hire a tutor because lessons will be customized for you and you'll be guided in learning them to make it more effective for you. You can easily interact with them and ask them to elaborate if something's not really that clear to you. They will also be able to give you feedback on your progress with your lessons and how far along you are in achieving your goals in learning the language.
How can learning a language benefit me other than being able to communicate with it?
Studies have proved that learning languages can help you with other mental processes as it sharpens your thinking skills. There's significant improvement in your memory, enhances your concentration, it helps you be able to multitask with ease and improves your listening comprehension skills. It also helps you solve problems easily because it enables you to critically be able to think to come up with effective solutions.
What should be your mindset so you can learn a new language easily?
If you already have a particular language in mind because you have goals to achieve, prepare yourself to learn it and be mentally ready to take risks. There will be times that you will struggle but it should always challenge you to work harder and do better. You have to be optimistic and determined that no matter how many obstacles you have, you're still willing to make it happen and be fluent in the language you want to learn.
How important is motivation in learning a language?
Before you decide to learn a new language, you have to be able to answer the question, "Why do you really want to learn?" It could be because you'll get a promotion at work, or for a new relationship, or because you want to get better grades in school and etc. There are many reasons why you want to push yourself to learn.
