6 Exciting Jobs For People Who Know a Foreign Language

Did you know that learning a foreign language can open up a huge number of employment opportunities? We want to run you through some of the top foreign language jobs that you may be able to score once you become a little bit more apt in a language.

Teacher or Tutor

This is one of the top foreign language jobs. You will need to have a solid understanding of a language, though. You can look for tutoring and teaching jobs close to home. If you live in a major town or city, then we have absolutely no doubt that there will be people looking for you. Of course, you can also take your teaching skills abroad.

Translator

Translation work is big business right now. A lot of people are looking to translate their websites into foreign languages in a bid to extend their global reach. Sure, there are some companies that will use Google Translate but, let's face it, you are never going to be ending up with a solid translation if you go down that route!

Translation jobs are great once you are intermediate in a language. This is because you can really go at your own pace (within reason, you have deadlines to meet!). Although, do bear in mind that you have to be incredibly accurate with your translations!

Interpreters

If you are good at listening and speaking, then being an interpreter may be one of the best foreign language jobs for you. This job will allow you to listen to other people speak and then translate. Obviously, this job has a lot more pressure on it than a translator as you need to be able to translate virtually instantly. This is a good foreign language job for major business languages e.g. Mandarin, Spanish, and English.

Customer Support

You may be surprised to know this, but a lot of customer support centers require people that speak multiple languages. It isn't the most glamorous job in the world, but if you speak multiple languages, then it can be pretty well-paid. If you speak one of the more widely-spoken languages (especially Spanish!) then you may find that there are a lot of jobs quite close to home.

Blogger

You can always write a blog in your target language. You may even want to vlog in it. Sure, it is going to be a self-employed job, but you will be surprised at the number of people that are making a huge amount of income from blogging!

Tour Guides

This is another one of those foreign language jobs where foreign-language speakers are in-demand. After all, the majority of people that go on tours will be tourists, and almost all of these will speak another language. Tour companies hire tour guides that speak multiple languages because it makes them a lot more cash as they can draw in more customers.

Remember, you shouldn't be thinking about any of these foreign language jobs until you are good at a language. Talk to your Just Learn tutor if you want to know the best way to progress your career.
